NORMANDO X AREZZO

NORMANDO X AREZZO

For the NORMANDO X AREZZO collab, Arezzo chose Normando to be inspired by the 2010s.

Arezzo, in conversation with Normando, references and draws inspiration for the work from the 2010 campaign, directed by Giovanni Bianco, which features various models of shoes and bags in this collection, and the iconic (and current) shoe of the decade, the half-platform.

Based on this selection of models, Normando began researching and found Amazonian inspirations that have been explored in the brand's universe over the years, such as: boats, Amazonian rivers, Brazilian modernism, and the buoy, a floating object that appears as a supporting element in various photographic scenes from Pará.

This floating object was the starting point for conceiving the shoe's platform. Thus, this utilitarian object, the buoy, is presented in a very intelligent design as inspiration for the shoe's platform. The back heel is asymmetrical, like many Normando pieces, and alludes to the brand's logo, the "N" of Normando.

The developed colors were conceived based on Normando's recurring inspirations with Brazil, from the modernism of Brazilian furniture to the colors used by contemporary Brazilian artists who inspire us. Specifically, the caramel reference with a gold specchio platform was inspired by modernist furniture (specifically Lina Bo Bardi's "Bola" armchair, which is also part of Normando's studio furniture);

In addition to the shoe, a bag was developed, inspired by the "matapi," an item used by the Amazonian people to collect shrimp for local consumption.

The matapi is a basket woven from palm stalks and intertwined lianas.

From this regional inspiration of the matapi, Normando created a bag through a very rich artisanal process with Arezzo's saddlery, where more special projects are made. Vertical leather strips are used, which are interlaced by two more horizontal leather strips, just like the construction of the matapi with its woven lianas. The bag is a bucket bag, available in three color variants, and can compose various looks, from formal to casual, for various genders who relate to the product.
